DigiBooster 3 is a music tracker. Its history has roots in ancient times of Amiga. Amiga was the first popular computer having stereo PCM audio output. Then it had a potential to be used as a device for making music. This potential has been fully exploited. The Ultimate Soundtracker was the first in 1987. NoiseTracker was the second in 1989. ProTracker had beat'em up in 1991. Amiga was getting faster processors. Multichannel software mixing was a logical step forward. Tomasz and Waldemar Piasta have done this step in 1998 creating DigiBooster Pro 2. It has been later bought by APC&TCP. Development stalled after version 2.21, but has been ressurected in 2007 by APC&TCP in cooperation with Grzegorz Kraszewski. It has been decided that DigiBooster 3 will be rewritten from scratch in C. Now, after 4 years of development, DigiBooster 3 reached public beta stage.
DigiBooster 3 runs on three operating systems:
MorphOSMorphOS (PowerPC)
AmigaOS 4AmigaOS 4 (PowerPC)
AmigaOS 3AmigaOS 3 (M68k)
digibooster3.library released
27.10.2014

The digibooster3.library is the official DigiBooster 3 replayer in a form of Amiga shared library. It is available for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS. The library comes with developer documentation, examples and source code, licensed on BSD licence. Using the library is recommended over the static libdigibooster3, as it produces smaller executables, also users can have the latest version of the replayer without recompilation of applications.

DigiBooster 3.1 released
25.09.2014

DigiBooster 3.1 was released for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS.

DigiBooster 3.1 is available on CD-ROM and as download in our online-shop http://www.amigashop.org.

DigiBooster 3.1 follows the traditional tracker's way of making music with an advanced audio processing engine, and an up-to-date MUI based graphical user interface. It retains backward compatibility with its Amiga ancestor, DigiBooster Pro 2. On the other hand the program code has been written from scratch. Its modular design gives it a straightforward path for future development. Except for versions for classic Amiga computers, DigiBooster 3.1 is also compiled for PowerPC processors, taking advantage of their greater computing power.

The first DigiBooster 3 replayer based on open source
12.03.2014

libdigibooster3 is a decoder for Reggae, MorphOS multimedia framework.

The decoder class, named "digibooster3.demuxer" enables all audio players using Reggae (including system default player Jukebox, shell command Play, as well as yet to be released virtual DJ console SoundBankster) to play DigiBooster 3 and DigiBooster Pro 2 modules directly, without a need of pre-rendering them to an audio file.

Joining in the celebration of the highly anticipated release of DigiBooster 3, Airsoft Softwair is proud to present a DigiBooster plugin for Hollywood. After installing this plugin Hollywood will "automagically" be able to play DigiBooster modules in 44.1khz 16-bit stereo for your ultimate Amiga tracker experience.

You can download the plugin from the official Hollywood portal. Thanks to Hollywood 5's cross-platform plug-in system versions for AmigaOS3 (Classic), AmigaOS3 (FPU), AmigaOS4, MorphOS, WarpOS, AROS (Intel), Linux (PowerPC), Linux (Intel), Mac OS (PowerPC), Mac OS (Intel), Windows and Google's Android platform are provided.

Open Source Portable DigiBooster 3 Replayer released
12.02.2014

After succesfull introduction of DigiBooster 3, APC&TCP releases an open source DigiBooster 3 replayer routine organized as a static library. The code is being released on permissive, two-clause BSD license. The player is written in clean C with minimal dependencies. As such it has been succesfully compiled and tested on numerous platforms: AmigaOS 4 and Morphos, Linux (on x86, x86_64 and aarch64), Windows (XP, Win7, 32 and 64 bit) and MacOS X (x86_64). It also supports the most popular compilers:

GCC, Clang and Visual C++. The package contains source code of two example tools: 'dbminfo' displays information about a module, 'dbm2wav' renders a module into 44.1 kHz 16-bit stereo WAVE file. Of course libraryAPI documentation is provided as well.

Based on this code we plan to release in the near future more ready to use components, like shared libraries for AmigaOS and MorphOS and a few plugins for popular audio players.

Release of this code ends difficulties of playing DigiBooster 2/3 modules on non-Amiga(like) systems.

The library package is available for downloads on the official DigiBooster 3 webpage. Any questions related to the package may be asked on the official DigiBooster support forum

DigiBooster 3 Beta 26 released
6. October 2013

The beta version 26 of DigiBooster 3 for 68k Amiga, AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS was published online.

Since it is probably one of the last beta versions before the final release, we invite every user to test and report the version as detailed as possible and write all bug reports directly to the DigiBooster support forum.

Beta 26 of DigiBooster 3 has all the key features in place and will be the basis of the public release of the program planned in 2014. Major features added since latest public beta 22 are:

DSP echo engine, already demonstrated in DigiRoller. The echo is fully compatible with DigiBooster 2.x, but this time it does not depend on AHI settings, so it is always processed. Additionally new effects 'V20' and 'V21' allow for independent echo parameters for each single track.

Phase augmented stereo panorama. This has been demonstrated in DigiRoller as well. Small phase shifts added when setting stereo panorama improve sound positioning and overall sound space experience.

New envelope editor. Unlike DigiBooster 2.x, it is embedded in the main window, so it is much larger and shows both volume and panning envelopes on one diagram, so it is easier to design combined effects. Diagram width is adjustable, so editing short envelopes is now easier.

Mixer (module renderer). AHI independent, allows for mixing frequencies from 8 kHz to 192 kHz. Full 24-bit output available, writes WAVE or AIFF files. Volume boost up to 48 dB (with hard limiter) with optional autoboost calculation. Works in the background on separate process.

24 more fully documented ARexx commands.

Implemented missing 'E40' effect, fixes in 'Gxx' effect.

Numerous small fixes and improvements, listed in the change log.

DigiRoller 1.2 released
10 May 2012

We have gathered user feedback after releasing DigiRoller 1.1, the player and renderer of DigiBooster 3 and DigiBoosterPro 2.x music modules. The new, 1.2 version has most of suggested features implemented and a reported bug fixed. The program is also translated to Spanish now. Here is a detailed list:

DigiRoller 1.1 released
19 Feb 2012
DigiRoller is a standalone replayer for DigiBooster Pro 2.x and DigiBooster 3 music modules. Version 1.1 contains the latest replayer engine featuring AHI-independent DSP echo effect. It is backward compatible with old echo ("V", "W", "X", "Y" and "Z" commands are fully supported), but the effect is processed inside the engine, so it is always active. Echo in AHI may be safely turned off. Additional feature of the new echo (which will be used in DigiBooster 3) is a new echo mode (command "V2"), where each track can have independent echo parameters.

Another new feature is phase assisted stereo panoraming. Positioning instruments with not only amplitude, but also small phase shifts improves the music experience.

DigiRoller 1.1 includes other improvements in the replayer as well:
working sample offsets (commands "9" and "E7") and fixes to "B" and "D" commands.

DigiRoller is a free program and may be downloaded from the DigiBooster site http://www.digiboosterpro.de .
